FAQ / KNOWN ISSUES

TEMPORARY ISSUE: Version 1.1.1 was approved today and it includes a bug introduced when adding the new spell check and special keyboard features. The bug makes entering gas entry values very difficult. I have already fixed the problem and submitted a new version 1.1.2 with the fix. It can take a couple of days before the new release gets approved. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ISSUE #1: There seems to be an install or initialization issue that is happening to a small number of customers (less than 1%). After install and first opening and using CarMaint there are some strange behaviors exhibited for this small percentage of customers. Any created entries are displayed twice in the entries list. Deleting either entry deletes both of the duplicate entries. The duplication is only visual and it not reflected in the CarMaint database. Some settings also seem to fail saving properly.

SOLUTION FOR #1: In most cases, it appears that completely closing the CarMaint application and re-launching will clear up the duplicate entries. Once this is done there have been no reported issues of the duplication or setting issues returning. Some people have reported that this issue has been resolved by deleting CarMaint and reinstalling it from the Blackberry App World (you will not be charged again for reinstalling a purchased app). I believe that this was attempted before trying the simpler option of closing and re-launching CarMaint.

REQUEST FOR HELP FOR #1: We have tested over a hundred installs of CarMaint and have not been able to recreate this issue. Please help us by emailing our support if you encounter this issue. Please provide as many details as possible about your Playbook (Wifi only, 3G, 16GB, 32 GB, etc). Let us know your locale (language) and timezone settings. Did you install CarMaint over Wifi or 3G? Any details you provide will help up improve CarMaint. We sincerely want to solve this issue for our customers and appreciate any details that might help us do so.

QUESTION #1: I need to wipe my Playbook and reinstall from scratch, is there an easier way to backup and restore my CarMaint data than using the export to CSV option?

ANSWER FOR #1: Yes, using Blackberry Desktop manager you just need to copy and save one file from a specific directory of your Playbook. The directory will be slightly different on each Playbook. The file you want to copy and save is named "vehicle.db". Here is an example of a typical directory where the "vehicle.db" file will be located on the Playbook: "/accounts/1000/appdata/com.karn.CarMaint.gABYjKdeG5.kv8H3dflDiWEm9Ql/". You will notice the last directory name has some install specific generated characters that will be different for each Playbook. Once you have wiped your Playbook and have re-installed CarMaint from the App World you just need to put the "vehicle.db" back onto the Playbook in the appropriate directory and all your data will re-appear in CarMaint.
